Cash essential — many places don't accept cards. ATMs in major cities. Nepali Rupee only (Indian Rupee also accepted in some areas).
Trekking permits required for most trails. Altitude sickness is a real risk above 3,000m. Earthquake risk. Best trekking seasons: Oct-Nov and Mar-May.
